I am truly amazed at how many people really seem to love my art dolls, especially my trolls and little brownies/pixies! So much so that I am getting asked more and more to sell them privately instead of putting them up for sale in my store.
To tell the truth, its stating to get a bit overwhelming.. most are very polite when asking but there are some who get very carried away with 4 to 6 messages in a day, over two to three days.. Certain pieces really seem to steal the hearts of people and not want to let go!
So after a few weeks pondering on what to do, I decided to create a Patreon page!
For those who want a doll as soon as it is finished and not wait for it to go up for sale to the world, th...
It is well and truly time I made some more of my pixie pendants!!! I managed to get the pocket watches open and emptied without cutting myself (this time). The small ones can be tricky to open sometimes!
I plan on making 6 to start with, then maybe another 6 once the new pocket watches arrive!
Now this is a rather sad sight.. Running out of clay yet again! This is all the prepped clay I have left.. there is enough of one mix to sculpt one of my tiny Pixies or even a tiny Troll ... but right now I need to start working on my Norn for the Malvern Doll Fair, and I am going to need much more clay!
.... And so.. here we are again... back to the part I hate the most! .... . . Clay Prep. Oh how I hate you! I hate you so much!! I hate how you hurt my hands, I hate how you blister my fingers, I hate how you leave bruises on my palms and I hate how you leach all the moisture from my skin..... but.. without you .. I could not create my beautiful, cheeky and sometimes wise art dolls.. so I gu...
Oh why oh why must time more so fast! Every time I turn around I lose yet another day, week, month, even year!! Time used to be so slow..... whatever happened to the days that seemed to go on forever?
In under 4 months another year will be over!! So before yet another year slips away forever, it’s time for a Giveaway! or 2? or even 3!!
Meet Mallow, Diglin and Fenwyn. These 3 cute little Pixies will be the prizes for my next Giveaways. All 3 giveaways will be going up this weekend, one on Facebook, one on Instagram and one on Twitter!
Commission Trolls. I finished these two not to long ago, Arnoth (larger Troll) and Derrill (tiny Troll)
I love the colours of these two Trolls, they were to be autumn and earthy, I was able to find the right colour to create the striped fabric for Derrill that matched perfectly with the dyed cotton lawn I had for Arnoth. Matching those can be very tricky!! All my striped fabric is hand striped as it is near impossible to find anything in the right size for my tiny Trolls and tiny Pixies.
Little Derrill is carrying a basket of tiny blueberries I sculpted in the last of my tiny baskets handmade by the lovely Lydia from Weave a Dream. Maybe time to buy some more little baskets?
Firstly I would like to introduce you to Odo, our very first (of what we hope to be many) Gnome art doll. Odo as with all my art dolls has been sculpted using Fimo Professional polymer clay and dressed in hand-dyed cotton lawn fabrics, he has been fully blushed in Genesis heat-set artist oils and has beautiful deep black onyx gemstone eyes.
Odo stands 7 inches tall from his toes to the very tip of his hat.
We also have 2 new little Pixies up for sale.Meet Noy and Kepley! Both are only 4 inches tall and have been blushed in Genesis artist oils and dressed in cotton jersey fabric.
Lots of work to do to get the new dolls finished in time for the next doll show. Its been a very show day, so far I have spend most of the day watching paint dry.. I am using Genesis artist oils and it takes quite a few layers to really bring the colour out while avoiding the dreaded 'shine' and each layer has to fully be drawn into the polymer before the next is added or it will just strip the colour off right down to the clay. The blushing does take a rather long time to do, so all I am really doing is sitting here and watching paint dry, then adding another layer and back to watching the paint dry again... Hopefully sometime tonight I will get to bake them to cure the paints.. then I wil...
My new store will be the place to find all my hand-sculpted polymer Art Dolls, Pendants and Art Books. You can also sign up for my Newsletter to receive monthly updates on whats happening in the studio and get notification when new Dolls, Jewellery and Books are added to the store.
Whenever I take photos of my fairies, I am always think how nice it would be if I could just tilt her head this way, or move her hand, make her sit or stand her up.. she would look so nice if I could just… but that is not something you can do to a polymer art doll.. unless you want to break something.. So around June last year I started work on a BJD sculpt, most of the work was finished late last year and since then I have just been fussing over her, adding a bit extra here and then sanding a bit over there. About the end of I was finally happy with the way she looks, up until then every morning I woke up wanting to change something!
9 months of sculpting, carving and sanding. I have never s...
